we paddled a crimson canoe
to the edge of the universe
supernovae lit the way through
dark cobalt galaxies,

we dined with cultured aliens
sipped fermented moonberries
nibbled on green cheese with crater-crackers
slathered in Romulan mustard

the Vulcan hot sauce was to die for, then
we were joined by Hippolyta, Egeus, Hermia
and Demetrius for lunch, Richard III,
Othello with Romeo and Juliet for a starlit supper

furthermore our shrew was tamed in a tempest
by bedtime, and then....on the twelfth night
we flew back home,
vacations will never be the same.
