shine done gone

Post by revolutionR » April 25th, 2014, 2:03 am

I was listening to Leadbelly
"where did you sleep last night"
and thinking about where the sun don't shine
in them pines, cause in those dark places
where the words don't go except in the song
and the work on the fret where he work that regret
be tellin you the story of the black girl
cause she might be tellin some shut my mouth lie
but the words don't lie they can only tell it like is
and all I gots to do is read your sun don't shine face
was listening to that old blues song like some cryin
on the radio or in the deep woods where all that dyin
is done, hidin from the sun cause it don't shine
like some white man's dress shoes, can't you hear the news?
where that black girl been where heaven been playing with hell
you know Leadbelly gonna tell you the plane old truth
don't need no confession booth, don't need no electric chair
to straighten your hair don't need no colored folk to pick your cotton
just need to know where the sun don't shine no more
that black girl lay her done shine head wanna know what she said

locomotive pace pulls you along...damn good story
If you do not change your direction
