It's like Sunday
on a rain day and
remembrances of
the alliterative asking

It's the moment
between taking a
shower and making
toast it's the morning
you forgot to tie
your shoes

It happens in the walk
around the block with
each step you
take wondering

It's the night before
even to say the
bottle of wine
that slipped away

It's in each sip
of a morning espresso
each sip sipping sip

she comes onto the
veranda from the
beach of Rolling Stones
Smiles into the windowing
Wind chill and mocking
My gestures in every lash
and screaming silence
Into my eyes

He forgets he's
on a conference call
Allegedly busy with
being busy

A busyness
he calls business

The neighbors dog
barks at a passing car
Flowers return to the
wilted refrain in repose
Delightfully vibrant
in the morning colour
and dew

He tells me he's not
interested in anything
but her

He has such great ideas
It's like the end of an
evening when all the
chatter and conversation
realizes itself as
exhaustion

He signs a contract
In the offer to
forget past grievances
Says it's a short two act
Interlude into inferencing
Increments

It's like a flower pot
on the windowsill
that needs watering
On a lazy afternoon
barbecue

It's like pasta and a
Bordeaux tipped into
the bowl of buoyant balsamic
vinegar between shares
of forgetting to sign
the dotted line

His girlfriend calls her
girlfriend over from a
few doors away

The waves are rolling
Dice games in the sea
Like a warm sweat from a humid
Human haste

Stoic screen stole it sightly
stolid measuring's of circles and lines
Shapes to preclude the abstract
Forgetting as convenience
And excuses that we
refuse to admit
even to ourselves

It's like the sensation
of fine grains of sand
on bare feet
In faraway fetterings of felicit
Fasting into the evening
of hunger

It is as much too much like
The end of an idea
gone wrong
But recovered in the edit
Edifying emptiness
