there are distant colored lights out there
shimmering in the crazy moon
atmosphere of out minds
like cheap shots at reality
in an effort at amusement
crappy films playing endlessly
in the little haunted movie theater
through the hovering smoke and mirrors
of everyday important things in the news
that we don't know what the hell
as we walk through the twilight of the idols
the flimsy facades laughing at our timid expressions
as we pass by the mocking distortions of meaning
and the distractions of major events
we came to forget why we believed
that anything mattered shit to a tree
something about the tree itself
in all its foliage of language
it's the total tree of our grantedness
the given beyond what what we already accept as the what

I can't make up my mind if it's a existential or Buddhist poem or maybe even nihilist, but it matters not as it is one heck of a fine work.
