a place of my own

Post by saw » July 29th, 2014, 6:23 pm

I live on the northeast side of town
she lives in that southwest neighborhood
we don't know each other, probably
never will, yet tonight
we will both feel the same thing,
loneliness will slink along the wall
in our dark rooms, we will both sigh
in our separate apartments
parched for conversation
with someone nice, hungry for
a warm hand
to touch our arm perchance
caress a cheek, but
we will bathe ourselves in blue light
instead, sulk in the blackness
of discontent, sad
knowing tomorrow will likely
be the same, we are victims
of affluence,
able to cobble together the do-re-mi
to pay the rent
pay that gas and electric man
that lurks outside my window once a month
we cover the water bill, we remit our taxes,
ain't it great !
to have your own place
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

loved the lines

"we are victims
of affluence,"

and

"pay that gas and electric man
that lurks outside my window once a month"

but the thing as a whole is just beautiful, salute!

Doll, you may have found a place of rest but I'm still on the trail.
