the swashbuckle of ink

the slash of poetry,
slices of historical meat splayed open,
the blood of written lore seasoned by many cooks

mingled with strangers taste buds

before there was an internet
there was a web of humanity,
deliberately twisted at times

in captain's log books

at other times violently torqued
in diaries of austere awakening,
contrasts of experience side by side

voices of the weary, sun-burned travelers

this persistent chorus,
the stories of the endless universe
not sugar-coated by two bit shills, sycophants on call

not arranged by the musclemen of abuse

it's true what they say you know
when they compare that long sharp metal blade
to the eternal staff, the colleagues of words

nothing can save us like the pen of woven hearts

Yes. But oh dear God it sure as hell is taking one hell of a long time.

Thanks, Steve.

let the blade come
it will find itself
absorbed
what is mortal will be
swallowed up by life
Ezekiel looks upon
the wheel

i'll keep my notebook
in the bag of tricks
i can depend on it
the mighty pen
be it bic or gel
even india ink
pushed by my bamboo pen
soothe my sword swallowing reveries
