i could be watching the Oriole game
who knows it might be a no-hitter
in the making and I could claim
i watched every single inning, I could
be down at the rock and roll sex palace
bouncing my head up and down
to the groove of the next self proclaimed
funkiest of all funky divas, that brand new
platinum blonde icon with little clothing on,
but nooooo, i'm sittin here
in my comfy poetry chair fondling my ballpoint
staring mindlessly at a yellow paper field
with exactly 28 horizontal blue lines, and only
two vertical red ones closely spaced on the left

hides in the shadows
with a cool drink
not concerned about
who needs her but

for work, to write tickets
