I've stopped apologizing
for myself, learned
to accept the man I am
not the best by any means
but not the worst either,
it's OK to me that my thoughts
don't align like celestial constellations
with the angry horde
that breathes conformity,
i can't worry about them anymore,
though i don't dislike them
i'm just tired...
it's enough work fretting about
how i haven't measured up
to the standard, and it would be so easy
to give them what they want
i could just go along, join the happy chorus
of capitalism, sing the tunes of delirious
consumers, dance the line dances
of memorization, but
i can't, i'm sorry.... no more than I
could hurt a child, or kill an animal
it ain't me, simple as that
i don't mean to offend you
i like people. but seems i can't expect
the same tolerance i demonstrate
i'm even okay with that...
just don't ask me to join your club

love the poem Steve...i remember that duck would fall from the ceiling when u said the secret word.....a night at the opera by marx brothers is a gem, especially when the sleeping room gets packed, its total hilarity....groucho & lord buckley cant get any better than that.....
