I'm not ok, your not ok
at least that is what they would have us believe
but this is a poem, it's not a podium or a soap box
jeeze, people get so defensive, what would jesus do?
I can't even type the word jesus without getting the
computer red line treatment, because it's not capitalized
I don't feel comfortable capitalizing that word, it's a
proper name, but it is also a whole western bag
that we have to drag along with us from cradle to grave
you mean I don't believe, in what I was told before I even
had a chance to check the facts, historical or philosophical
it is not that I don't believe or that I believe, it's that I need
to see for myself the words that would make me think one
way or the other, and then in one life time, to get it right
or wrong, to have the right to stand the middle ground
in the natural understanding that we don't have enough knowledge
to know one way or the other, or if we experience what is called
direct knowledge, we still do not become convinced of some one
off position, the ancient Egyptians had it down, it was neither here
or there, but is was everywhere, or it was nowhere, it was above
because it was below, that gives us a whole hell of lot of slack, even as
it shows us the images of the underworld it also shows us a beautiful
naked woman with a transparent body of infinite stars arched over us

and realistically this
forum is the only place
where it has any hope of response
so poetry it b
i remember when i was a kid
there was a baseball player
for the Giants named Jesus Alou
in the USA thats just not done
nobody names their kid (J)esus or
wtf's wrong with (j)esus
he was no judge
but yet people snap to judgements
in his name
anyway R, this is an awesome
piece, i'm glad its in a place where
it'll h0pefully get some response
which is here in the poetry forum....real nice thought provoking write, thanks

p.s.(i was in the process of writing a poem
about poetry being the place if u want
response, but something in your piece
made me respond in this way instead after
a wifi glitch lost what was written)

I think i have a very open mind, yet...as you say...where's the proof....the bible ?....history is written by the victors.....we should all know that by now, yet people it seems will suspend skepticism to be part of a pre-packaged plan for salvation....or perhaps a convenient way to join something, anything.....rather than stand alone with an alternative unpopular philosophy

Great responses, and I did not set out to write about religion, per say
I am writing about writing, and in particular poetry, I start a poem
and I have no idea what I will say, but I am always thinking about poetry.
