the poetry of resistance

I exercise my poetry
I poeticize my movement

stretch the neurons
like cosmic rubber bands

spin curious ideas into words
from old wool sweaters

watch the yarn unravel, invisibly
woven into new knit suits

comfortable yet sexy
warm, but nonrestrictive

words wash down across my abdomen
my sit-ups keep them in good shape

symbiosis
not thrombosis

lust
not rust

strong.....
never wrong

fluidity
not stupidity

grace in the face
of the rage of age

the poetry of resistance

resistance is why I write poetry
existence is what poetry is all about
metaphysics is what it consists of
telling it like it is, is the thing I can do

And you do it so well.

"Real poems don’t MEAN anything, they DO something. They do something to your consciousness." –Lightning Rod, 2010.
