I went to visit your grave today,
but it was clear to me that you weren't there
I had no connection to this disturbed earth,
to the indentation left from un-compacted soil

this grass-less ground, parched,
rock hard and unforgiving...
i sat on the chair-height gray stone
with its untarnished brass plaque

I closed my eyes
banged my heels
tried to feel your vibrations
but it became clear you had flown

like a peregrine falcon launched from a ledge,
I smiled as I pictured that
you soaring the depths of time and space
your hawk-eyes imbuing all the sacred moments

each generation floating atop
the romance and doom of unrecorded history
open to you now, like a climatic archive
for all the true lovers of history in all its permutations

for you....for only the true lovers,
the empaths of eternal love, the winged hearts
of exploration, the majestic birds that fly beyond
the days and nights of mere physical bodies

a tibetan sky burial
would b so much better
yes indeed it would...
