Love titles longer than the poem itself.

do you mean stalling like a car stalls out?
or do you mean in a relationship people are
on a kind of reluctance hold?

A poem means whatever the reader thinks it means. It's not about the author's intentions.
Personally, as both author and reader of this so-called poem, I think it's stupid, poorly written, and meaningless.

interesting, but the poem was written by a person without any intention.
but don't you think that so much poetry is written with some kind of intent?
i totally like the idea that it all is in the eye of who beholds it,
nevertheless, people are always interpreting the poet's so-called intent
there are libraries of books written about what they meant. Perhaps
I should write a book about no matter how much literary criticism is
based on nothing but some passing fancy. I rather believe that all of
recorded history is nothing but that.

I wonder what Poe meant
that confounded raven.

I rarely have firm intentions when writing a poem. The meaning is hidden in the words and the words simply write themselves, quite often. It just comes out and the words spill and there are accidental metaphors, like dreams.
Oh, yeah, I do edit and edit and edit while I write but I write for the music of it, the way it sounds, and the meaning comes from a different place, an unknown place. I often write while I'm in a trance-like state. It's hard to explain.
I don't plan my poems. I don't tell myself, "I'm going to write a poem about death," for instance. But while I'm writing it, it turns into a poem about death.
I don't know what I'm trying to say other than I'd probably be able to say this better in poetry than in prose.
I have no idea what "She Was Stalling When I Left Her" means but it must have meant something to me last night. Looks like I abandoned it.
Maybe She was abandoned. Who is HER? Is She the same she as her? Did she leave herself? What in the heck is this all about?
I don't know but this is the very first time in my life that I wrote a one-line poem .... and it isn't even a complete thought.
What WAS the raven about? Good question. I bet Poe didn't know.

yeah, Doreen, that's the way I flow too
I don't know what I'm going to say, but I
get an image and it puts me into a kind of trance...
in France, romance, and I'm always about three years old.
what did or did not Poe know
and when did he unknow it?
is unknow a word?
(I'm always seeing this comment on a sight like Huffington post
"you can't unsee this")

oh yea!
"she was stalling" brings to mind the things folk (including me) say when we don't really want to say what we mean but we're uncomfortable with silence. ehhhh.
