I, the Winter

You are white and cold,
Though you beat with blood of red,
Behold the falling snow
That lingers in heart and head.

Beware my wary entity
For she hurts with every ounce inside
She cannot get past the fear she sees
So she runs to hide.

She is cold like that of winter
But only because she cares,
They are the hearts that splinter
All the hope that she shares.

And to that there seems no end,
With every breaking of her heart,
With every hole inside it sends
Another piece to break apart.

And so there is the wall so high
Built to love but to never receive
Leaving her soul upon the sky
And all else to hardly believe.

Yes I am the falling snow,
Though I beat with blood of red,
I am the white and cold
That lingers in the heart and head.
