Don't Throw Nothin' Away! (audio poem)

Post by Doreen Peri » January 5th, 2015, 7:15 pm

A poem I wrote to a member of another site who was VERY talented and whose work was getting insulted by critics. I'm sorry I don't have the text any more but here's the audio version:
don't throw nothin away.mp3
(3 MiB) Downloaded 644 times
I like to support young writers. He had a certain dialect & hip-hop style that reminded me of Eminem whose work I admire and I tried to echo that style in this piece.

The critics on that other site were insulting him and I wanted to show support so he didn't get scared away from writing. So I wrote and recorded this for him. I hope he's doing well now. He was only a teenager when he was posting some dynamic stuff and being insulted. Hope he found a better place to post where he's getting the support he needs.

Don't throw nothing away, throw it all away!
throw it into the world, like it's got nuttin ta lose.
and all that stuff that you ain't figured how to use
keep to fo anothey day, then throw it like a spit ball
that's made of spit, for the heck of it. Cause when it's
done there's nothing left of it, cept, some images
coming through. Be done wit it, so you can toss it
next time. Just like you mean it... 8)

Craig... loved your reply! That's right! Throw it away! Throw it out there!

Mark... Right under the first sentence, there's an arrow to click to the right. Click it and you can listen.

Doreen, great audio poem. :) You have a wonderful voice for readings. 8) :)
I have missed reading before groups.
(Haven't done it since 2007, the year my sister-in-law got sick with various health problems. She died in July, 2012.)

Thanks for your encouragement through the years... :)

great to hear your voice....having heard you read a few times in person, as well as on recording, I think you are a natural....although I can't see your mannerisms here, i can imagine them....and the message is righteous
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

Thx, saw & dune. :)

We all should meet up somewhere to read together. That would be so much fun.
