Black-ice glaze

Post by Doreen Peri » January 25th, 2015, 4:58 am

Beware a black-ice glaze
on streets which keep agendas hidden
'neath a laden glacial coat — the notes
once written with a frozen stem as quill
to scratch two names in love
upon the grade;

Beware a thaw at noon, a freeze
again at dusk — each tire grip a trip
to slip and shift, a sneak, a polar
tease! Liquidity, mirage, a deadly
slam into an elm, betrayed
like those initials etched to
designate eternal touch,

Two hearts once drawn with
walking stick, the thaw,
then freeze, then thaw,
then freeze, a black-ice
candy glass — A shattered dream,
a winter trap! Disaster route!
Escape!

Oh send me spring, our robin's song,
a cape to warm, a drape to bring about
a resurrection video since we've
no proof without.

Please offer us awakening
from deathly frost, protection
from a frigid end or doubt!

For spring and love alone, I long,
and this remains my winter song.

Thanks, Mark. I wrote this a few years ago. Yeah, I'm not fond of winter at all. Once I have a partner to go with me, I'll be selling the house and moving south or southwest or somewhere warmer. (notice I said "once I have" not "if I ever have" ... because I will have a partner! hah! ... I just don't know when yet.) Stay warm and dry! I need to put weatherstripping for my doors and caulking on my windows. It's frigid in here!

Oh, and don't worry. I left that place again to take a break.

Paint awaits! I need to get to it! Have a glorious day!

I never know how long my leaving a place will last. I may just be pissed off right now. I've left and returned a number of times. I guess I wouldn't return unless I get something from it. There are some good writers there. I have to post on several places on the net at the same time because otherwise, I get bored. I don't really have a real life like you do, other than my little commune here and my daughter. Posting on the net is my primary social life, the most interaction and contact I get with people. ;)

Anyway, glad you danced all night! Sounds like fun.

:D Do you have room for my daughter, her boyfriend, 3 cats, and my grand piano? Haha..

No, I know you weren't asking me to move in with you. Just kidding.

But seriously, what a sweet idea. Frederick Maryland would be happy to have me. I'd be shoutin' poetry from the rooftops, gathering a crowd at the train tracks for a jam, would be cool ...

I looked into it a few times. I've done real estate searches for Frederick. Actually, not much difference in the cost of homes there as here, though a little less expensive. I wouldn't qualify to rent anything anywhere because of my low income. I'd have to use the equity in my house to buy a new place. But it's a possibility... you never know. I might be able to afford a little condo outside of town with my equity. Couldn't afford to buy a row house or condo in Frederick proper. But, I've thought of it and will keep it on the list.

I'm a little lost today. I've spent the past few months hanging on that other site and there are so many people there and it's so active, I feel rather alone right now. I come here and I LOVE Studio8, but nobody's here but you and me right now and some days, there's nobody here at all. I need to be around people.

Trying to kick myself in the butt to get out to the gym and join. That's going to be very good for me. Just can't seem to get up.

Thanks for listening. How much do I owe you? ;)

It's not really a shame. It's a good site. It's just me... my inability to handle not replying. Yes, there's a block feature there just like there is here. It's called "FOE".. You can designate anybody as a foe and then you won't see their posts at all. I take breaks but I go back. Lots of people there.

Everybody feels bad the day after they get too drunk. Glad to here you're being a good friend to your friend! ;)

damn, the country looks at this moment as a mix of Graham Green, the Nurenberg trials & Boogie el aceitoso ...  To laugh a little is a form of escape or is it plainly too political incorrect?

amazing poem, Doreen!!!!
