the poetry that you use

To be limited by views by what poetry is
or is not, is antithetical to what poetry is
poetry is anything that does not go along
with language as usual, we are bombarded
with language as usual, by those who would
limit us to an exclusive view of language
everyday we are inundated by exclusive use
common language is of the earth, or of the heavens
the earth is the natural world, but it is also
the supernatural world, everything other, is earthy
mythology is the intercessor between the earth and heaven
but without the earth there no heaven, does heaven need
earth, poetry allows us to hear the angels, because it is born
of the shit below, and the only way to translate angelic language
is to use the down to earth descriptions of the world we live in
poetry is a portal to other worlds, to strange phenomenon
it allows an interaction, between the worlds, the realms
there is no one way to be a poet, no one poet is the paradigm
it's all about language, and how language evolves, to evolve
you have to revolve, we have been revolving, going around
and coming around, it's the weird that inspires us, gets us
looking at the things that exist, and seeing beyond, up and down
the snake sheds its skin, it eats its tail, it dreams its dream
we are dreaming our world into existence, we language it
but we have to learn, translate, and make up language as we go along
there is a mystery here, how do we make it up, if it is already given
if in the beginning was the word, then does that not tell us that
it was already there in the beginning, as if language itself is some
thing out there, but what of the other, that a lot of language seems
to be made to stand in opposition to, this is where poetry comes in
as the medium between, it was written, and what will be written
there are all kinds of effusions of vernaculars, or usage, of jargon
strange eruptions of jibberish, accents, dialects, secret tongues
lingo, slang, rap, hip hop, jazz lyric, ripazags, and rebazaps, bird word
gypsy sign words, utterances from the bottom of the world, voices
insect like, guttural groans and moaning moon speak, elf and faery
tittering, fish wife talk, dirty words that make us blush or get excited
I have been accused of using drivel, as if there is some kind of law
against it, I will drivel, I will stand on the street corner and spew it
it's the crazy blather of lunatics that interests me, not the poet
laureate of America, that won't even call himself a poet, he
calls himself a writer of poetry, well imagine that, you word maker
