ROAD FROM PARIS 1970
Posted: January 31st, 2015, 4:12 am
The coach had left Paris
and it was still dark
apart from street lights
and they became less
as we got
to the countryside
music was coming out
the coach radio
some Mozart
some French
radio station
Miriam sat next to me
her head slowly
resting on my shoulder
her curly red hair
tickling my cheek
she'd swapped with Bill
at the restaurant
in Paris
he sat with
some other guy
whom she's pissed off
beside her
music makes me sleepy
she said dreamily
don't mind me
resting on you
do you?
no sure
go ahead
I'd said
and she had
I thought of my mother
and her parting words
be careful
of your wallet
and your morals
and changed
your underwear
every day
I had my wallet
safety-pinned
in my coat pocket
and I changed
that morning
at the Dover B&B;
Miriam was nodding off
the slight sway
of the coach
meant she slowly
drifted into me
I saw her reflection
in the darkened
window beside me
her eyes closed
her mouth open
my shoulder
her rest
I studied
the pink
reflection cleavage
of her soft breast.
and it was still dark
apart from street lights
and they became less
as we got
to the countryside
music was coming out
