hands raised above head,
unarmed, in total on-my-knees
surrender

I can't think of anything to say.

It's just a poem. No need to think of anything to say.

I need to think a moment before I don't think.
It takes a lot of not thinking to make a poem.

When I wrote it, I gave up thinking.
The best poetry doesn't need to be thought out.
But, who cares? I gave up thinking.
I think.

I won't ask you what you are giving up

You don't have to ask. There is not much to think.
Just sit and relax, write a poem, have a drink.
I gave up my honor, I've given up pride.
Some folks give up wisdom and though they have tried,
they can't give up anything else that's a prison.
Lord help them, I hope that they don't give up vision.
And those who are blind never chose to be blind.
And here I wrote more but it's gone — you will find —
'cause this software must suck or my faulty connection.
I'll give up my life for a sure resurrection.
But it will not happen. No sir, no such winnings.
I'll give up the endings, but never beginnings.
(I wrote a much BETTER reply but when I pushed submit and the damn software logged me out and I lost it. Happens all the time on this site. Who runs place, anyway? I want NAMES!)

I have lost so much writing because of puter putt putt.
My wife and best friend, Meryl gave up everything
to be with me.She could have married some rich guy
she could have done so much more with her life,
she had so much intelligence, but she gave it all up.
She saw the writing on the wall, because her family
did not really care about her, all her mother cared about
was prestige, Meryl was just a bag of potatoes to her,
to sell to the highest bidder.
I gave up everything to be a poet. But I did not really have a choice.
I was between a rock and a hard place.
Time to give it up, and let sleep try to take me.

Maybe I'll have another
chance to give it all up for love.
I don't know how many times I've told you I'm sorry you lost Meryl.
I'll say again a million zillion times. I wish you peace and LOVE
and above all, fulfillment, second to none.
Goodnight, my friend.
I surrender. I'm done.

Even with seaweed in my hair
I must stay afloat
