it's valentine's day
I'm home alone
writing poems
and it's really beautiful

there is nothing mean-spirited
about that understanding, yet
when I wore a younger man's expression
that would have bothered me

I bought into it all
it was never really about love, and believe me love is cool with me
it was always about selling
chocolates and flowers

valentines come and go
some you wish would have stayed
but I'm OK tonight
Hell, I just wrote me this here poem

all about perspectives
it is a florist/whitman holiday
one year i got my wife and
daughter hermit crabs
sittin at the bar
all the waitresses dolled up
nat king cole singin mona lisa
thinkin bout dessert
aint life grand.......
