I know. But
there will be
restrictions
limitations
stupidities
inanities
insanities
insults
offenses
struggles
mind-numbing boredoms
disgusts
revulsions
hatreds
impossibilities
lonelinesses
longings
angers
gut-wrenching idiocies
mindless rudnesses
and bitter encounters
wherever you go.

it will be that way in college
it will be that way in your jobs
it will be that way in your relationships
it will be that way in your marriage/s
it will be that way in your art.
But there’s also…

Well, like Columbus,
you’ll have to discover
that for yourself

once you set sail.

Thank you. As a mother of a daughter who is ready to set sail, I have to tell you this touched me because not only the daughter goes through all this, but the mother does, too, and I loved this and I loved the ending and you've helped me tonight. Thank you.

You can only love them, and push their little boats out to sea.

My daughter is the love of my life.

I got her through IT (long story...) and guided her TO it.

And now she's THERE.

My work here is done.

;-)

She left once a year ago, didn't stay gone long, came back for a year and now is ready again to go. That was beautifully stated. My daughter, too, is the love of my life. Would you mind if I shared this with her personally (not publicly)? If you'd rather I didn't, that's OK. Thanks again!

Interestingly, my parents seemed to have no difficulty at all letting us go.

Of course, I thought it was because they wanted to get rid of me. Haha..

I had a hard time when my son left, too. Then again, I'm a single mother 2x (both husbands left when my children were young) so I don't have a partner to talk to.
