cosmic chain of fingers

Post by saw » April 13th, 2015, 7:43 am

addictive bongos...
I mainline the story,
timeless truth in the beating
of animal skins, humanity
resonates, history lingers
in naked vibration

calloused hands tell secrets
of lost love, conquest, valor
tales of struggle, survival
the music of million year old
hearts, a cosmic chain of fingers
as far as the ear can listen

percussive wisdom lives
in the biorhythms of every voice
that ever spoke a word, every ritual
carved in every limbo rock
the drummer's riff is involuntary
his hands are guided by ancient stars

still burning, knowing eyes,
orbs of accumulated breath
that left the earth ascending
into the upper regions of all time
every single exhale captured
in the archives of black holes

the bongo player dons his shades
so he won't be blinded by the cruelty
he plays hard and low to honor the beauty of empathy
he throws back his head and howls
like the lost lobo outlined in a manic constellation
it's all there, every speck of love and lore compressed

the chromatic scale of life tapped out in the code of the beats
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading

"the bongo player dons his shades

if there's any reason to wear some shades, that is a damn good one!

i liked your poem, saw.

drumming is therapy. for real. i work in mental health and we have drumming circles and people drum and dance and sad people smile. its good times. on with the beat!
