Steely Mammoths

Outside the Big Box,
mammoths roam the asphalt oceans.
Gluttonous gladiators trundle and graze.
Their skin bulges like steel hillocks;
their grilles are mad dinosaur teeth.
They are rugged, thirsty warriors
bred to conquer stoplight grids.

Thanks all. The proliferation of these beasts really dawned on me when I lived in Vegas for awhile (maybe they just stood out more against all of that beige stucco sprawl . . . What was that figure again? 18 barrels of oil per minute? Something like that? ... It boggles ...
