sometimes I want to take the shortcut,
slip into that harley davidson bar, belt back
a few clues to sanity, one after the next
generation, buy a treasure map
with a big red X from a chick
with endless cleavage, schwarzenegger
muscles, and awful tattoes abundantly displayed
as we do do do the texas two step
all this loop D loop around john brown's barn
the gremlin weather vane whirling
like linda blair's head, seems to have no end
seeker's have to seek, hunter's gotta hunt
but gather's just collect new shit for their apartment,
I know shortcuts are like the siren lorelei
beckoning from the mountaintop with delicate
come hither fingers in a diaphanous gown
and spiked heels, she may as well be a barking dog
'cause the road to peaceful sleep is full of potholes
big enough to swallow my ' 88 econoline van
the long road is still the best course
so I take that back about shortcuts, the odds
from vegas tell me I ain't gonna win the lottery
i was just talkin' out of my ass
I guess I'll just keep on the path I'm on
it's gotta end up somewhere civilized, right?
I Ain't Lost, was just takin' a shortcut

you may end up where you are heading
you may end up where you are heading

Thanx Ton....I will consider your suggestion....i appreciate it when people care enough to offer something....most of my editing tends to be a year later...for whatever reason....perhaps poems need to marinate a long time in a box...haha.......peace, and happy writing
