A SENSE OF COMMUNITY

I always wanted to be part
of a "Community"

because in every news segment
people are always talking about
their beloved Community

how important it is in their lives
and how concerned they are about it

being white and male
I never had a Community
yet

no one marched or protested

when I became a poet
there were some who said I was now
part of their Poetry Community

but I still had no special rights or privileges
nor access to government funds

a lot of good that did me.
