Livin' like we're twenty

Post by Doreen Peri » July 6th, 2015, 12:23 pm

Livin’ like we’re twenty
gettin’ plenty of laughs from sunset to sunrise,
jokin’ and tokin’, measuring the size
of love with sighs and music, losin’ ourselves
in the wealth of touch, not much more
to say about it but it sure is fun and
we ain’t done yet, not even close
‘cause this is the most awesome adventure
two people could share where they dive in
head first ’til they’re immersed in each other.
I’m telling’ ya brothers and sistas, this thing
is wild and I haven’t had so much joy
in all my life. Feels like all that damn strife
is long gone and we’re dancin’ on the lawn,
runnin’ in the rain, good god almighty, I’ve
done gone insane! Gotta love it, there’s nothin’
above it, we’ve reached the big time, the highest
peak of human relation. We awaken with delight
and do it all over again the next night.
I’m over the top, absolutely taken.
This is the real deal, if I’m not mistaken.
I’m so in love, so damn elated, please don’t let this stop.
Love is NOT overrated.

Really nice poem.

Livin’ like we’re twenty
gettin’ plenty of laughs from sunset to sunrise,
jokin’ and tokin’, measuring the size
of love with sighs and music, losin’ ourselves
in the wealth of touch, not much more
to say about it but it sure is fun and
we ain’t done yet, not even close
‘cause this is the most awesome adventure
two people could share where they dive in
head first ’til they’re immersed in each other.
I’m telling’ ya brothers and sistas, this thing
is wild and I haven’t had so much joy
in all my life. Feels like all that damn strife
is long gone and we’re dancin’ on the lawn,
runnin’ in the rain, good god almighty, I’ve
done gone insane! Gotta love it, there’s nothin’
above it, we’ve reached the big time, the highest
peak of human relation. We awaken with delight
and do it all over again the next night.

Okay, almost quoted the whole poem, but it is infectious. You capture the joy of love----"the highest peak of human relation." This is one of the most positive poems that I've read.

Thanks all. I have no idea what I'm doing but hey, poems (like life) can't be planned, I guess.
