the big question
is can you meditate
with your phone nowhere in sight
ringer off, stuffed in a shoebox down in the basement
that's the real test
do you have that kind of courage, balls
that large ?.....can you sever the lifeline
in the name of the greater good
lil' miss greater good
who is she, this seductive stranger
what can she bring to the dinner table,
is she cooking up some peace of mind
do you miss her cellular body
can you avoid the siren's come-hither lights
the outstretched noises that beckon,
can you forget about her signature song
not yet !.....not until you bring a big dose
of that intestinal fortitude, are you really ready for that ?
ok then, pick up that phone, feel its power in your hand
now walk down the rickety basement stairs
pick the dusty shoebox
from the mildewing shelving unit
blow away the generations of cobwebs
