dark eyes on the crest
dead not from suicide vests

no it was the politicians
the bankers of three piece hell
the professional liars

did you know that was a real job ?
did you know it pays very well ?
with lives, most days

there is fortune in the 500
in the stock yards bustling with clashing bulls
gouged by the horns of plenty

clawed by the talons of industry
and just like wile e. coyote
they fell thousands of feet from a cliff

where in the valley there was a soft poof
that signified a splat, and that's so
we couldn't see the carnage

the caskets of war are forever taboo
just throw a pretty flag on them
forget about the implications

head on back to video games
facebook says it misses you
create a new identity, it's ok

really....we all do it, we all
feel the helpless tug on the apron string
we tacitly accept our place

beyond the blood of kent state
beyond the strange fruit, it's not that
we don't care, we are eunuchs

spayed by the street with skyscraper walls
impotent and doing our very best
to feed the kitty

I pay attention to what happens, near and far,
reality is unreal these days... who cries for the world,
my eyes are dry... a well done movie might bring a tear,
but not everyday life.

I only watch the world mostly... feelings are acknowledged,
recorded, and then filed in my things to review on a rainy day folder.

living and dying is expected, two sides of the same coin ya know,
but an immunity sets in after awhile of living/dying with this mind,
a numbness... to this live and let die world.

I pay attention though, still bitch about it a lot, but mostly I just watch.
