In the super market
Where I get my rations
I wait for my turn at the cashier
There are national enquirer s lining
Impulse items candy bars which are killing
People all day long
Sluggish livers
Madonnas arms were on display

Twins
Movie stars on a diet

Then there are the wrost dressed Hollywood characters
A law an order episode
Background sound
I thought
Of nothing else all day
Those arms- argh
Madonna

As Chris Hedges subtitled his book The Empire of Illusion,
The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle...

waiting in line is the best time to brainwash, tease, provide things we can't do without

It always amazes me how important some folks find things that I do not even think about, when I read those same headlines in line . My thoughts at the wally mart here is that every bit of it will go in a land fill ,most of it in about a month ,when I was young in the country we did not go to market much and we did not have garbage per say almost every thing left over had a use by default , flat tin cans make shingles etc,The poem was like standing in line inside your mind ..
