The reason

For the season of change
the broken gifts kept for sacred times recalled
spread out before the sunrise questions
the son returned to mend the nets 
for the fishing
who would give you an answer for the eyes of age
to see so clearly the eternity
the softest kiss across the miles of time
falling on the lips of hunger
the young one alone
afraid in the storm
reaches out for the words
now the old man asks for the reason

to return to the pen of the poet
who should speak for the ageless answers
deeply understood
beyond the door of the world
now slipping into reason

bringing loves sweet answers
unconditional understanding
forgiven the request for truth
dear hearts the quiet gifts you receive
when pen in hand
are enough to know
