When they return home
what ever home
what ever cause
what ever war
they bring with them the ghost of war
it will never leave them
they now know
they are truly never really safe
never truly free
hate so also revenge never sleeps
the bloody agreement among warriors
to kill one another
comes home with them
this is taught to the young
now we agree as they agree
each to their own cause
to sell more arms train more boys
build more machines of war
for no love can rule in the world
of fear and hate you participate
all men of violence
you are responsible
for the death
of the innocent and good
you can never return to before
your war

it's reached a crisis point when more soldiers are dying from suicide than combat....how fucked up is that ?.....ptsd, traumatic brain injury, loss of limbs at record numbers, while the VA flounders in red tape and under-staffing....very sad state of affairs

Well said. And of course, according to the insular "code," such things can't be spoken of, once inside the sacred circle of warrior culture. The soldier must bear whatever befalls him (and more recently, her) in silence.
