a good day is a good night

I feel my cells expanding,
neo-phoenix wings inflate
leaving fiery fingers of doom behind
but it's hard some days to see magnificence
through the kryptonite curtains
hanging in the concrete windows,
so you have to dig deeper those days,
tunnel under Alcatrazian walls, swim
across the choppy Bay of Ennui
where life hides in your poetry, it's there
in the fondling of the upright bass strings
her curvy body glistening with new oil, there
in the tips of the worn down brushes
soaked in acrylic tubes of love, there
in the torn t-shirt rags that blot up the spills of trying,
there in the sunny walks around the neon teal lake
where solitude whispers
a new way home....sometimes molecules actually smile,
sometimes an atom is a really big deal, sometimes...
synapses fire like bean bag cannons, a puff
of sparks followed by little pillows to the head,
a slumber party for one, good morning...
good afternoon, good evening .....good night

Finding living poetry is such a wonderful engagement
Reading down through the poem was like diving off the swing tree
into the clear cold river water of home country county
the artist mind reaching out to its own understanding of a joy
A jewel . You remind me why I read.

thanks so much leaf for the ringing endorsement...and I would also add that it's feedback from my peers that keeps me engaged as well....write on !.....I guess I would read and write regardless of any connection with the outside world, but sharing is much more fulfilling ..
