anyone can fell a tree
but can you keep the tree from killing you ?

trees don't always fall
exactly where you intend, sometimes
they bounce off a neighboring branch

if you are standing too close
you could be injured....or worse

consider these three things
the wind
the lean
the balance

the tree will topple often before
the saw cuts all the way through

if the kerf is closing up instead of getting larger
you have misjudged the balance, DO NOT
keep sawing in the hope the tree will change its mind

trees never change their minds

*** 4-20
wisdom abounds when eyes can really see....
when men can put aside their their manic quests
to chop down planets, and sever the heads of the goddesses
to make cheap cardboard packaging for useless trinkets

awaken corporate behemoths,... Mr. Blind Ambition
can your riches buy you enough pure oxygen,
or has your plan all along been to live in a polyvinyl chloride prison
with technological friends and mechanical dogs and cats

thankfully I will have returned to the soil by then to become

life

for wiser generations

Yes/ the poem resonates well with what I have learned in sixty five years. It made me stop and think about now , at this knowing. I have seen folks who love this earth, in every corner they are caring for her. As we can voice the desperation of the rain forests , let us also help and protect those who are trying to save it . Amen to your poem sir.
