The Whisper Now

[leafsailors ghost]

Turn the pages
fill them one at a time
like the days they slip away
some have poems
others are just foot notes
so who knows before each page
the next
the poet was driven out
some meanness of the mind contrived
allowing no joy in the words
rejection in silence
enough to still the voice
I hear the whisper now
it comes from a dark empty room
at the far end of the room a door
open to the deep night
listen
it said
in just a breath

the artist's (poet's) voice can not be silenced forever...it may be stifled for a time, but as long as there is a single "breath" it will resurface and regenerate, and fill the "deep night"....
