Among the Jackals Who Say the Unspeakable
in Other Ways While Trying to Stay Ahead of the Lions
I don't think I should do it
- not now, not ever, never speak of it,ya know
you might think I hold it sacred
- I don't -
it's just that I usually think of it
every day since when i wake up in the morning
... of course sex was involved,
these things never happen without it -
but I wasn't clever enough to grasp
that brass ring tight enough
or to wear it as a crown
or to let it go -
I was working as a trail groomer up in the mountains
when the call came out of the west
and I thought: it can't be true ...
but it was true and I went -
unarmed i came near the edge of the trees,
things started happening really quick then,
some people lost their faces
- there was no going back -
it was said that we were moving a mountain
we weren't -
we were just going to take
the top off
- then, afterward, we went
searching through the stones -
- we left piles of them
behind us everywhere -
