I'm most alive....
and there should be a distinction made,
gradations of respiration logged in incremental
notches....when I breathe like a ancient elm
or a juniper inhaling the sun and the sky,
absorbing the moods of the moon,
when I sink beneath the waves
to get to the bottom of things
getting tangled in the weeds of germination,
waving seaweed arms cradling the amorphous
truths of time and keeping them safe
in the pockets of timeless sunken chests
it's all there for the taking, but don't forget
to paint your mask flat black, the barracuda
only strike the rich man's silver, fear not
the misnamed devil rays, who was the fool
that named those gentle beauties after Satan ?
please tell me it wasn't Darwin or Moses or Davey Jones
I gotta tell ya those moray eels do have razor wire teeth
and jaws like steel traps, the key to safety is in
the open eyes, the open heart, the open mind
simple as that, this is not your practice life
take another deep breath and slow it all down
snorkel the reefs of infinity like you belong there
