my religion lies in the stories from the clouds

I could hear a distant celestial harp
sweet as sugar baby watermelon in late july
background music for an astral video
and I felt like the only member in church

there on the roof

a man looking up to hear a longed-for melody
the cosmic reinforcement of a baby's smile
a tune customized for his aching desires
a lilting voice to tune his chakras to blush

single-mindedness
what a fine phrase, long as the miles
you traveled to get there
single-mindedness is the focus I needed

there on the roof

the antidote to a man's hands tied in sailor's knots
his mind slipping all the moorings
revealing a tarn of contentment, a lunar lake...
a religion of one....a parable of personal truth

high as a disappearing raptor
true as an eagle's eye
swift as a falcon's confession
deep as an osprey's dive

there...............................on the roof

Love this roofyism. The title reminds me of Hopi beliefs-- we become clouds after we die, and share our life-giving navala (rain) with our living kin...

Tis true, the cathedrals and holy places of nature are the most powerful.

as was the knowing why
