I don't get it. :)

Feeling rather stupid. Can you explain it to me?

Hi, Doreen,

A murder is the collective noun for a group of crows. The poem is a play on the word.

When we were kids we used to shoot crows all the time. Nobody liked them. Some of the farmers actually encouraged us.

I knew that a murder of crows was a group of crows but I didn't get the joke until you explained. Hey, lots of people don't get my jokes, either. As a matter of fact, sometimes I AM the joke and still people don't get it. :P

my grandfather hated crows in his garden....many times he'd take his rifle off the wall and start firing away as we were having a conversation....that's the way they did things in old Virginie , down along the Blue ridge Mountains....and my grandmother canned everyone of them vegetables and stored them in the root cellar in mason jars....she did it all, jams, bread and butter pickles.....loved going down there.....that gun was loud tho, and I instinctively knew that when you put in hour upon hour of hard work in the field, it WAS NOT OK for some birds trying to steal the fruits of your labor

Well, I didn't mean the poem as a joke so don't feel bad if you didn't get it. A poem is more about interpretation, I guess. If you don't see something, it's okay.

Thanks for asking about it.

Lots of summer days a bunch of us would just drive around, stop, and ask the land owner if we could shoot crows. They rarely said no. Pigeons, too, b/c they made such a mess of things.

FYI: Absolutely love the comment in the video about the "other" crow playing the guitar out of camera.

I always think when people use puns, they are intending to be humorous. :)
