friends, women, children, lend me your ears

it was different back then
had all the time the world was offering
days were cheap drugstore sunglasses
months were dime-a-dozen postcards

this infinite pool of polaroid blue light
an ocean playground to frolic with dolphins
women came out of the waves
on sturdy tanned legs , golden locks dripping

then before I knew it they dove back into the sea
like disappointed daydreamers, swimming
hard and fast at the stone blank horizon
never looking over their shoulders

my folly lived in the returning tide

in the ebb of jostled sand, in the streaming
bounty of the sea, clues lost through the mesh nets
Today....I treasure all that I missed
the company of love in all it's manifestations

like a daily miracle, like a walk above the ground
the point this day....children are a great privilege
one is coming over soon in an Uber sedan,
my daughter is on her way for a nice visit.... 8)

Everything and everyone was different back then. It takes a good poet to record it and present it for others.

Thank you.
