Lyric to Life

Between the violent eruption of birth
And the intense wrenching of death
We can only hope for tranquility
Only?
But there is love, tenderness
The passion of dawn and evening
The magnificent bloom of an afternoon
Yet
With all the mating
Dissolving into one another
The merging and burst out of ourselves
the creation of an other
We are alone
Inside our skin
No great revelation that
How the thoughts, the ease, the pains
The quick delights
The slow glowing fade of satisfaction
Are all within
All tendrils lead within
And where is the seed of our own creation
The cosmic hum
The all-pervasive explosion of our consciousness
The rip and torque
Of our history
Or perhaps the ebb
The water leaving bare stone, bare bone
To our heirs
And they turn
Walk home
In their skin
Begin their endings
But all the while
Look at the clouds, blue sky
Some days they feel the mundane rain
Wipe the industrious dust
That covers everything
And let loose the colors
Before and within their eyes
and why?
the answers are just wind
the friction of wind
on leaves, in ears, on seas
And the intense wrenching of death
We can only hope for tranquility
Only?
But there is love, tenderness
The passion of dawn and evening
The magnificent bloom of an afternoon
Yet
With all the mating
Dissolving into one another
The merging and burst out of ourselves
the creation of an other
We are alone
Inside our skin
No great revelation that
How the thoughts, the ease, the pains
The quick delights
The slow glowing fade of satisfaction
Are all within
All tendrils lead within
And where is the seed of our own creation
The cosmic hum
The all-pervasive explosion of our consciousness
The rip and torque
Of our history
Or perhaps the ebb
The water leaving bare stone, bare bone
To our heirs
And they turn
Walk home
In their skin
Begin their endings
But all the while
Look at the clouds, blue sky
Some days they feel the mundane rain
Wipe the industrious dust
That covers everything
And let loose the colors
Before and within their eyes
and why?
the answers are just wind
the friction of wind
on leaves, in ears, on seas
