the devil is a clown

we have been told to believe certain things for so long
that we can't tell the devil from a clown
now clowns are acting like some kind of devils
everything in our world has been stood on its head
so we don't know up from down

so is a sense clowns are really there to put us
right side up, by a kind of moment of showing us
the simplicity of laughing at ourselves
but I ask you is there any laughter in how
we got our image of the devil

is there real sense of humor in the human condition
where did the imagination go when we listen to fanatics
who have been controling the narrative for far too long
children laugh at clowns because their imagination
has not become solid yet, a poet is like a child
that can still laugh at words
a clown does a kind of magic
that reminds us we really are human

a poet is like a magic clown that takes it to another level
by showing how words meant to free us from language
not meant to use language to bedevil us, but to sing to us
the earth song, the song of the cosmos, listen to the leaves
listen to the wind laughing through the trees and the trees
laughing in the stars singing in the branches reaching to them

I think the fanatics who've controlled the narrative for far too long are (perhaps?) losing some of their grip, due to our sheer numbers and our rapidly exploding tech capabilities if nothing else (which present different types of daunting challenges of their own).

We were given a pretty cool rock to live on. I hope we don't mess that up too badly...
