~-ancient waters, new rivers-~
modernity is at war with the past
and those that remain with the past
shall die with memories of times
when their forefathers ruled the world.
times when their legends were gospels
passed down to each generation
as if their ways of life were sacred
...to be followed religiously.
but the world continues to shrink,
in the smallness of the new age
survival is reliant upon change
and change is equated with growth:
to assimilate the ideas and ideals
of the past, to create a new world
more fitting to all its inhabitants
that whisper their needs immediately...
the electronic age sparks the revolution -
the digital speed of words and deeds
flashing across the monitored screens
speaks the mutual tongue of hu’manity.
we all are but lonely people traversing
each and every moment seeking to find
our own buried treasures within
along routes traveled by others.
the new age offers free ways,
supersonic flights across lines
mapped by past necessities by
rulers that could control in isolation.
how futile to continue the monotony
of yesterday’s monologues preaching
from but one book, one philosophy,
one reign, one government...
the past has passed -
new vistas lie ahead
the only obstacles are
the illusive barriers
put up in words from
days already passed.
those conditioned by
the past stifle themselves
by not allowing inevitable
change and growth to occur...
they cheat themselves and
their families from achieving
the dreams of tomorrows
that will unify this one world.
