in each poem I make

I'm looking for bits and pieces
of every other poem
as I see every poem
a kind of reflection
of every other one
I'm looking for that refraction
within the general meaning
which always comes through
the obscure, the obtuse
the difference of other
as much as it comes through
the obvious, and the ordinary
what you call unusual appears
when some phrase as mundane
as the chicken crosses the road
or is it the birds have come home
the poets have come home too
this earth is the home of the poets
but who are these writers
where did they come from
what did they want to tell us
how to talk the talk and walk
and chew gum at the same time
it's been a long time coming
of every other poem
as I see every poem
a kind of reflection
of every other one
I'm looking for that refraction
within the general meaning
which always comes through
the obscure, the obtuse
the difference of other
as much as it comes through
the obvious, and the ordinary
what you call unusual appears
when some phrase as mundane
as the chicken crosses the road
or is it the birds have come home
the poets have come home too
this earth is the home of the poets
but who are these writers
where did they come from
what did they want to tell us
how to talk the talk and walk
and chew gum at the same time
it's been a long time coming
