when I got my first computer back in 99'
I was trying to figure out what this newfangled
machine was all about, but I had to learn how
to use the device, which means not crashing it
I had little interest in computer games
I was looking for intelligence in cyberspace
I found some sites where I could practice my poetry
there was one site with a chat board and a forum
where I could talk all day and all night long
about subjects that interested me
and I experimented with poetry
on another site was a lot of poets
the owner of the site wrote about philosophy,
poets, and literature, I was still trying to figure
out where all this was going because it was all
still new

I have no idea how many poems I put on these sites
I made a lot of comments that were a kind of reaction
to some of the others comments, I ended up fighting
with trolls, I got caught up in troll wars
and sometimes my responses were a reflex
I was still trying to figure out where this was al going
somewhere in the middle of that I wrote a novel
that nobody will ever read, or maybe a few people did
I thought it was a kind of hippie On The Road
of what the psychedelic thing was all about in the late sixties

I don't wonder where it is all going now, nobody seems to be
creating any new great places where poets can hang out
and shoot the shit

Sounds like your experience was similar to mine. I found LK in 2003.

I think the question is, where did all that poetic momentum go...
