if you knew

if you really knew
what has been really going on
on this planet, and you saw it
through the lens of who was
really behind it, and just how
terrible it is, would you have the
nerve, would you have the presence
of mind to get really angry

I'm not talking about torches and pitch forks
well, maybe in a sense, they know if we knew
they would be dangling from the street lights

there has always been a revolution going on
but as Gil Scott-Heron said poetically
the revolution will not be televised
I don't think rioting in the streets is that
that is mayhem, what I'm talking about
is the better angels of out natures
to borrow a phrase from an assassinated president

I'm talking about the subtle forces behind history
that have been working to liberate humankind
to bring this world back into balance and peace
and make this planet the paradise it is meant to be
for all living peoples animals and plants and insects

but first the forces of darkness have to be removed
what we are breathing into our lungs is not oxygen
at least not in our life times, the air is filthy
with god knows what, and the same goes for our food
and water, next what is put into our minds
by television and movies is even more foul
it is bread and circus on steroids
and that is just for starters, we have been
feed a God that seems schizophrenic for God knows how long

the almighty dollar that is truly the rot of all awful
our leaders are not here to protect and serve
they long ago decided to sell us out
and they have sold out, but the human spirit is strong
and there are those who see the calamity for what it is
and what has been done to this planet we all love on
the revolution of what goes around comes around

being dumbed down is no excuse for not being an artist
or a poet, or to put it another way, artists and poets
have to resist being dumbed down by those who
would keep us ignorant, or to put it even another way
art and poetry exists as an action against stupidity
but first you have to know that the powers that be have
been doing this to us for longer then you care to count

we are just slaves to them, do slaves rebel do they see
the invisible chains they are shackled with, or do they
watch sci fi on Tv that tells us about technologies
that we will have in some future, do you realize
that every man woman and child on this planet
could be living with free energy, with advanced technology
that would heal us and the earth, that nobody
has to live in poverty

does that make you angry about the powers that should not be
the revolution is inside you, it is your birth right as a human
remember there is such a thing as natural law, this is the
mind of the earth, the earth is a living entity
remember what they said at the Nuremburg trials
their excuse for doing evil, was that they were just
following orders
