this is not the late sixties

people were united against the Vietnam war
and civil rights, and there were the silent
people, but the very real need to end the war
brought a lot of people together
all these years later and wars later
people are more shook up then ever
things were more straight forward
in the late sixties, there were not
as many distractions
now people know too much or too little
people are divided down the middle
they hate the orange man that was voted in
because they can't believe such a character
can pull this country out of the abyss
that it has gone down, but is it not
like we have always seen before
they make all these promises
and then nothing gets better
and truly we need more then better
enough with living on a slave planet
enough with the poison of politics
in our air food and water and souls
but sadly the alternative was not any better
but when your choice is one of two evils
or the lesser then... all the brew-ha-ha
just adds to the madness
and the sense of loss
and it always comes down
to a coin toss
we don't need another bozo for president
and we don't need the wicked witch of the north
we don't want the wizard of oz either
what we need is people that haven't been
corrupted by greed and power
they say he is going to restore the Republic
but America should not be run like a casino
no more one armed bandits or two armed ones
the evil corporations have done so much damage
that we don't need one Billionaire to fix this mess
they say give him a chance, but will his chance
only take us further down this dark road
we have been on since the inception
of this American dream, a lot of nice ideas
our forefathers had, so what happened
is sure not in the history books
we need a boatload of enlightened masters and poets
to gather in a great circle and rise collective voice
of the earth back to her rightful throne, rule of law
natural
and civil rights, and there were the silent
people, but the very real need to end the war
brought a lot of people together
