leaving

a knew a woman very well
she misplaced her introspection somewhere in the junk drawer

she loved her brain so much
she missed her consciousness slamming the screened door

she turned to buckets of booze
to build a waterfall to prevent looking inward

I did what I could to encourage another path
she threw my documentation in the fireplace

she resented my suggestions
relied firmly on her mental superiority

which always told her to drink even more
I had to leave
If you do not change your direction
you may end up where you are heading
