the brothers grimmer

the sun and the moon
belong to everyone, as do
the bark of the tree and the dog,
our tears in the ocean lend their salt

yet some are reckless
with their words and actions
the CEO of Nestle's said
clean water is not a right, it's a privilege

Exxon Mobil is the careless teenager
driving the family wagon high on PCP
money is their perverted oxygen,
the greenhouse gases are free to do as they please

epilogue:

the planet got so warm no one needed
heating oil any longer, yet the Oil Men
just kept on a-diggin', drilling like a needle
in a vein

in the final days
all the billions in cash made good kindling
for burning the bodies
of the rich

the roaches and the rats rejoiced

It is totally irrational to say water is a privilege
and this is why America is not great
that everything even the thing most natural
and needed to life is made into a weapon
against the people, Imagine if we had
enlightened leaders, not these psychopaths

The 'sold-out' factor. Been a major one since the push westward a hundred and a half years ago. It is a big reason why entire ridges can be leveled by large mining companies when market prices get high enough, on the basis, essentially, of laws passed back in the 1800s.. (Okay, maybe its not quite that simple. And yet it kind of is..)
