the cat and the cuckoo bird

there is no cuckoo bird
the old grey cat wails for food
silent streets are startled by the
rush of a car, then silence
half light and an AC unit comes on
still there is no cuckoo around
the old grey cat needs water
AC hums outside my window
streets silent now, tapping at my
iPad, the hum is quiet

owned by a cat
no cuckoo bird
is required

[saw]

up the stairs
straight to the easel
been full of sickness
after trip to the skyline
got he hillbilly blue flu
I'm proud of my hillbilly kin
but I guess they have some bugs
haven't made it out of the mountains
certainly not to B'mo, so I drink
lots of water, relax and paint
no walking for a bit longer,
then I'm gonna watch my beloved O's
sip lemonade, eat salad from my garden

here
my old cat stretches
a big August moon outside my window
reminds me of hitch hiking days
a daybreak years ago
