Song Lyrics "If You Go to Houston"

"If You Go to Houston"
song lyrics by Doreen Peri
.
I'm not a young lady with a slim slender waist.
I'm not quite that silly but if you've got good taste,
I'm sweet as smooth ice cream, tender as steak,
would cherish your heart, make sure it won't break.
.
I can't be your goddess, might not be your light,
Fantasized our adventures and illicit nights.
And I'll paint all your evenings in artist's delight,
but talking to you might not ever be right.
.
If you go to Houston too soon and too far
When you leave me alone, I can't tune your guitar
And you won't have my laughter or winks or embraces
and I'm certain that others have prettier faces.
.
They'll give you their beds and their legs and their touch
but nothing like that may mean ever this much.
.
Yeah, this is flirtation, there's not much that's real
as our ships hit the riptides that time itself steals
since the ocean's not steady, there's foam in the tides
but I hope you remember the light in my eyes.
.
They'll give you their beds and their legs and their touch
but nothing like that may mean ever this much.
No, nothing like that may mean ever this much.
.
If you go to Houston too soon and too far
When you leave me alone, I can't tune your guitar.
The ocean's not steady, there's foam in the tides
but I hope you remember the light in my eyes.

If this has been performed, you should post an MP3 of it - I'd listen

No I just wrote it yesterday. No music other than on my head. Needs a chorus and bridge still.

I kind of thought the fourth and sixth were the chorus. And I'm lost when you say bridge. Music was never my strong suit. I just like singing karaoke, I don't pay much attention to the mechanics. Nice start. Hope to see the finished result soon. Love and Hugs.

Just another thought. My sweetie and I were thinking of going to Houston, I'm kind of glad I convinced him to stay in Kentucky, at least for another year. :)

Yes, Ann... those stanzas are the chorus and bridge... But I can't get the tune in my head for either yet. I only have the tune in my head for the regular verses.

I really wouldn't want to live in Houston. I'm not much a fan of Texas other than the fact that I have musician friends there. It's hot. It's ultra-conservative ... not that I'm not already in an ultra-conservative state (Virginia), but for some reason Texas doesn't appeal to me. I know nothing about Kentucky but I'm very glad you're happy there!

It's good to have you back here on S8 participating! Thanks for being here! And thanks for your feedback on these lyrics. :)
