one of the neighbors
took a shot
at his wife
now he's in jail
she cleaned out the checking accounts
went back to Tennessee
was jealousy what did it

rain again
so much rain
always wondered why
since nothing grows here
this time of year

take a shot day
or not
always a choice

it's a hard rain gonna fall

and get the hell away from itchy trigger fingers

I was in the supermarket checkout that very day. The bagger in the adjacent aisle was trying without success to get a conversation going with the kid bagging my groceries, inviting him to a party that night. "Nah," the kid mumbled. "I don't do parties. I don't try to talk to people anymore. I don't even do Thanksgiving. Just me. Me and my guns."

Good thing the GOP has its endless supply of Thoughts & Prayers... so much easier to offer those while lowering the flag to half-mast than to actually DO something. But then, with their balls (or what passes for them) firmly in the NRA's grip, what else can we expect?
